10 Years Later…
“Friends from the Heart, Forever” is more than a saying; it’s a promise that endures long after you sing your swan song on the steps of Rosse Hall. 10 years after graduation, the Class of 2010 reflect on their favorite Lambda DKE memories and share life updates. Thanks to Dr. Basil Kahwash ’10 and Matt Sargent ’10 for contributing.

Favorite DKE memory? Joking about—and then pulling off—the very first DKE beach party in Spring 2009. I still think we should have had more sand.
What are you up to now? To my own surprise as much as anyone else's, I am now engaged to a 2014 Kenyon alumna that I met long after we had both graduated. We moved to Nashville in the summer of 2020, where I'm an allergy/immunology doctor and assistant professor at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. My fiancee Syd and I have made it a mission to start exploring the live music scene here once things open up again. Any brother rolling through Tennessee is welcome to join.

Favorite DKE memory? It's so tough to pick out one specific memory, especially when so many of the great times were during normal "routine" moments: early morning workouts with Will Peters and Alex Ostrom ’11 down at the KAC; all the funny stories and general ball-busting that took place during meals at the "DKE Table"; or the fun, excitement, and organizational challenges associated with throwing a party in the lounge. Those things really were the best because they broke up the days and weeks and really made me appreciate how lucky I was to be at Kenyon and connected to such a great group of guys. My favorite specific memory was probably our first Lodge meeting in my sophomore year. True to our song, "When I was a sophomore...I thought I owned the campus..." I was so pumped to be back on campus, to be part of the organization, to take on some responsibility, and really work this college thing. The camaraderie, stories, banter, and plans for the year really made it seem like we could pull together to do anything. That meeting really seemed to set the tone for the rest of college for me, so I'd have to point to that meeting as my best DKE memory.
What are you up to now? I just recently moved to Darien with my wife—we moved from our tiny apartment in New York to the suburbs and are constantly learning new things about homeownership. I'd say we're still in the "we don't know what we don't know" stage. I'm working in wealth management for Morgan Stanley in Westport, CT but have been remote (like most people I imagine) since March—can't believe I'm looking forward to getting back into an office! If anyone finds themselves passing through Fairfield County, don't hesitate to reach out and say hi!
