The Bicentennial Reunion weekend is May 24-26, and more than 50 Lambda Dekes are registered to attend with a dozen or more planning to be there. It promises to be an unforgettable weekend, highlighted by a BBQ at the Lodge on Saturday from 12:00 to 3:00. Brothers are invited to see the new patio and firepit, and tour the inside of the Lodge. Spouses and significant others are welcome to attend the BBQ. Many Lambda alumni gave generously to build our patio and firepit. This is a place for Actives to gather since the West Wing lounge is no longer exclusive to DKE. It has also proved to be a great place for line-ups away from the prying eyes of others. You will see during your visit that many trees have been cleared away from the Lodge, the path has been restored, and the inside of the Lodge has been cleaned up. Be sure to join us!

For those attending their 50th Reunion and “Perennials” (celebrating a reunion beyond their 50th) the weekend events kick off on Thursday, the 23rd at 6:00 PM. For the Class of ’74, there is a dinner at the home of Bob and Buffy Hallinan on 10431 Quarry Chapel Rd, and for Perennials a dinner at Peirce Hall.

On Friday at 8:00 AM there is a Perennial Coffee Hour on the front porch of the Advancement Office at 103 Chase Avenue (some of our Perennial Brothers might be standing in need of coffee after their Peirce Hall Dinner the night before). There follows a lot of activities on Friday, and some of the highlights are: Early afternoon nature and history gatherings at the Brown Family Environmental Center and the Quarry Chapel; Athletic Alumni Happy Hour from 2:30 to 4:00 PM at the Lowry Athletic Center; The Parade of Classes on Middle Path at 5:00 PM; and the “Bicentennial Block Party” for complimentary dinner and drinks (including beer and wine) followed by live music in the Hospitality Tent on Peirce Lawn. 

Saturday is the big day beginning with a historical tour of the South Campus led by former College Historian, Tom Stamp ’73. The Tour begins at the Church of the Holy Spirit. At 11:00 AM in Rosse Hall the Bicentennial Keynote Address will feature  the United States Ambassador to the Ukraine, Bridget A. Bank, ’91. Class photos are from 12:00 to 3:00 PM on the steps of Rosse Hall. The College will be publishing a schedule. The “Main Event” of the Bicentennial Reunion Weekend is the “All-Reunion Soiree” at the Lowry Athletic Center from 6:00 to 11:00 PM. The cost is $85 per person and attendance is limited to 1,000. Tables cannot be reserved, so we are making plans to arrive early and try to grab some tables. To close out the Bicentennial Reunion, there is a Kokosinger Alumni Concert followed by an “All-Reunion Sing” from 9:00 to 11:00 PM at Rosse Hall. We know that at least a couple of our Brothers will be demonstrating that their Kokosinger Pipes still make beautiful music.
