Lodge Upgrade Underway

If it seems like it’s been years since the Alumni Association renovated the Lodge…it has been! But, with Rush approaching within weeks, exclusive access to West Wing no longer available and 4 Brothers on campus this semester, the Board decided to step up and create a spot where DKEs could entertain.

Spurred by an anonymous offer to match all donations up to $3,000, the Executive Committee green-lighted the construction of a patio with fire pit behind the Lodge. Working off a design by James Asimes ’11, James, along with Alumni President Biff Butler ’68, Andrew Kotler ’21 and Nate Saindon ’22 arrived in Gambier earlier this month to prep the site and begin to haul and place gravel and sand to serve as the base for the patio that is slated to be completed by the beginning of Rush in October.

Of course, there are ongoing projects beyond this exciting new amenity such as assisting the “fearless four” Actives with rush expenses, as this is one of the most critical times in the Chapter’s history as we attempt to build back. There have been some instances of vandalism at the Lodge, so security cameras are being considered. And, the Shawn Kelly Memorial Holiday Event will be returning this December and the actives will need our help.

There’s still time to make your contribution work twice as hard with the $3,000 challenge match in play. Go to the Lambda DKE website to make your contribution to ensure the future of Lambda at Kenyon.

Join your Brothers in sprucing up the Lodge and christening the new Patio and Fire Pit on Saturday September 25th. If you’d like to join in, e-mail Alumni President Biff Butler (WalterButlerMD@yahoo.com), so we can ensure we have enough food and drink for the working crew. It should be a fun event.
